Get started
One Linux host (x86_64 or ARM64), one free port, one browser. No JDK, no database, no client to install.
Unzip
unzip heracles-ldmt-*-demo.zip. Inside are the jar, the startup script and a jre directory — nothing else to fetch.
Run ./startup.sh
It unpacks the bundled JRE for this architecture and starts in the background on port 8766; add --server.port=8080 to change it.
Sign in, change the password
Open http://<server-ip>:8766/. First login is admin / admin — change it immediately.
Requirements
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Runtime | No JDK required: a JRE 8 ships inside the package (x86_64 and aarch64), picked automatically by the startup script |
| Operating system | Linux (x86_64 / ARM64) preferred; Windows uses startup.bat, macOS works too |
| Memory | 1 GB minimum, 2 GB recommended |
| Database | SQLite, embedded — nothing to deploy |
| Network | Needs to reach port 22 on managed machines; the product itself needs no internet |
| Target machines | Only sshd and a working account — no client, no agent, no Python |
HERACLES_CRYPTO_SECRET instead of the built-in fallback; (2) change the default admin password. The demo package keeps the default key so it starts without setup — that is not a production configuration.First-run questions
The port is already in use?
Start with --server.port=8080 to pick a free port.
Where is the data stored?
In an SQLite file under the program directory. Backup means copying that one file.
Adding a machine fails to connect?
Try ssh from a shell first: confirm port 22 is reachable and the account works. The product uses the same credentials.
Do I need to install a JDK?
No. The JRE is in the package and the startup script unpacks it, so JAVA_HOME is never involved. Targets need nothing beyond sshd.
Can I change the language?
Yes, there is a switcher in the console. Both Chinese and English packs ship with it.
